Meet the Doctors
My name is Dr. Erin Hisrich, and I would like to introduce myself. My parents moved to Flagstaff from Phoenix when I was four years old, and I knew from a very early age that Flagstaff was “home”. It feels wonderful to be back!
I have an exceptional family that includes my parents, two sisters, a brother, two nieces, two nephews, and my husband and soul mate, Dr. Jesse Saul. Our furry family includes three dogs, three cats, and two horses. All of my siblings graduated from NAU and we all live right here in Flagstaff.
After completing my bachelor’s degree at NAU, I moved to Columbus, Ohio and earned my Masters Degree in Veterinary Public Health at Ohio State. This degree has enabled me to become involved in veterinary research. I attended vet school at Colorado State University where I earned my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. I was very fortunate to have been selected for research grants that allowed me to spend summers working on projects in South America, Indonesia, and Africa. I am a published author, and I hope that I made a small contribution in these countries, teaching about diseases transmitted between humans and animals, and improving the people’s agricultural skills. I am an avid sports lover and enjoy almost everything that gets me outdoors. Some of my favorite activities include hiking, camping, fishing, snowshoeing, and whitewater rafting. Another water sport I especially enjoy is diving, which fuels my interest in marine life. Riding horses on the trails also ranks high on my list of hobbies. I have extensive experience showing Arabian horses and have won multiple United States Reserve National Championships.
My love of animals is a huge driving factor in my life and I feel so fortunate that I am able to have a career that is also my vocation. I look forward to getting to know you and your wonderful animal friends.
Thank you so much for selecting our team at Aspen Veterinary Clinic to meet your pet’s healthcare needs. We promise you excellent medical care, and we will treat your pet with the kindness and compassion that you both deserve.
My name is Dr. Jesse Saul and I would like to share some of my background with you as we get to know one another.
I was born, raised, educated, and have spent all of my life in Colorado. I come from a small, rural community, and I have a deep appreciation for beautiful mountain towns. When my wife, Dr. Erin Hisrich, introduced me to Flagstaff, I instantly felt right at home.
I received my undergraduate degree in biology and my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. I have never been afraid of hard work and put myself through school working construction, building fences, and guiding whitewater rafting trips on the Arkansas River. Rafting is still one of my passions, and I hope to someday raft every section of the Colorado River. Growing up, I was also very active in sports and played football, wrestled, and ran track. I still spend as much time outside as possible and enjoy hiking, camping, trail riding, and skiing.
I have known that I would be a veterinarian since the time I was in elementary school and I am very grateful to my family for all of their encouragement along the way. I feel fortunate to have inherited a love of teaching from my dad and step-dad, and an aptitude for medicine from my mom. I have a younger brother and an older brother. My latest nephew is my brother's son, Kyden. He is the youngest member of our expanding family and a lot of fun!
Most of my veterinary background is in emergency medicine and I especially enjoy surgery. In vet school, my primary focus was on large animals and I love working with horses and cattle as well as cats and dogs. It has been my lifelong dream to own a mixed animal practice and I couldn’t be more excited than to be here at Aspen Veterinary Clinic. It is my intention to become well acquainted with each of you as well as getting to know your furry, feathered or scaled friends. We have exceptional clients here at Aspen and we want you to know that we greatly appreciate the fact that you have chosen us to take excellent care of your pets. It is our goal to exceed your expectations.
Dr. Patrick Ryan
I am thrilled to join the team at Aspen Veterinary Clinic. Although I currently reside in Chino Valley with my lovely family, I love Flagstaff. I met my wife, Elizabeth, ten years ago when we were both working as Veterinary technicians at a large Veterinary practice in Chicago. She was a technician for twelve years before taking these last few years off to care for our son, Patrick III, and our daughter, Jane Elizabeth, who was born this August. My favorite part of veterinary medicine is being able to improve the lives of animals and their caretakers. Most of my experience is with small and exotic animals, but I was trained to treat large animals as well. I enjoy my work and playing outdoors in my free time, and am looking forward to becoming part of the Flagstaff community.
